Second Chance Furnishings, a program of Marshall-Starke Development Center (MSDC), provides gently used furniture and household items to individuals and families in need - helping turn empty living spaces into safe, comfortable, dignified homes.

What We Do
Second Chance Furnishings connects donated furniture and household essentials with people rebuilding their lives. Through our structured referral and donation process, we ensure items are safe, clean, and ready to be used immediately.
We Provide:
Essential household furniture at no cost to eligible families.
Support for individuals transitioning out of crisis, homelessness, or unstable housing.
A sustainable, community-driven way to repurpose gently used items and reduce landfill waste.
A convenient, tax-deductible donation option for households and businesses.
How the Process Works
For Referring Agencies & Clients
Partner agencies submit a referral with client contact information and household needs.
MSDC staff contact the client to schedule an appointment to “shop” for available items.
Clients must bring their voucher and arrange transportation for item pickup.
Delivery Option:
Delivery may be available within Plymouth city limits for a $15 fee. Exceptions may be considered based on need.
Furniture Pantry Schedule
Pickups and drop-offs occur on different days. Appointments are required.
Donation Pickups - Tuesdays
Scheduled donor pickups only
Pickups occur within Plymouth city limits
Time: 12:30 PM – 3:30 PM
$15 cash-only fee applies for in-town pickups
Pickups must be scheduled in advance through MSDC
Donation Drop-Offs: Wednesdays
Donors may drop off furniture or household items
Time: 12:30 PM – 3:30 PM
Items are inspected for cleanliness, stability, and safety before acceptance
For Donors

Second Chance Furnishings is a furniture pantry operated by the Marshall-Starke Development Center (MSDC). We provide gently used furniture and essential household items at no cost to eligible individuals and families who are working toward stable housing.

Individuals and families who receive a voucher from a partnering referral agency are eligible to receive furniture through Second Chance Furnishings.

Furniture items are provided at no cost.
A $15 delivery fee may apply for deliveries within Plymouth city limits. Exceptions may be considered based on need. -
To receive items:
Obtain a voucher from one of our partnering agencies.
Contact MSDC to schedule an appointment.
Bring your voucher and arrange transportation to take items home.

All items are gently used and donated. Items are inspected for cleanliness, stability, and safety before being made available.

Items are offered based on current inventory. While we do our best to meet household needs, specific styles, colors, or sizes cannot be guaranteed.

Items are visually inspected prior to acceptance. However, MSDC cannot guarantee items are completely free of pests or allergens once they leave our possession.

We accept gently used furniture and household items in good, usable condition. Please review our Donation Item Key for a full list of accepted items.

Items that are broken, heavily worn, stained, infested, or unsafe cannot be accepted. A detailed list is included in the Donation Item Key.
